“Summer to me means three things: heat, hemlines and hard hats.
It’s the time of year when I can parade around in a skimpy dress with strategic cutouts that would make my mom wince.
And when I know I’m looking good, I brazenly walk past a construction site, anticipating that whistle and “Hey, mama!” catcall. Works every time — my ego and I can’t fit through the door!”

Hey Hebrews — Jew-baiting is super! Love it

Summer fighting between Israel and Gaza means three things: tension, acrimony, and resentment boiling over.

It’s the time of year when I parade around with a yarmulke and a huge blinged-out Star of David medallion that would make David Duke gasp.

And when I’m Heeb-ed out, I walk past Klan members anticipating that hiss and, “Hey Kike!” slur. And the attention makes my Semitic heart swell.

I’ll never forget the first time, when I interned at the Forward in Lower Manhattan, where I rocked the t-shirts collected from Jewish Socialist summer camps. They all featured the same big Star-of-David logo surrounded by Hebrew letters.

"Christ-killer!" they shout, flicking pennies in my direction.

I was thrilled. So different from the WASP-y colleagues at work who rarely hint at their distaste for my ancestry.

Now I’m older, but I still feel my chest burst with pride that so many people can blame me for so many of the world’s problems whenever I’m around someone down on their luck. I’ve learned that it’s not just BEING Jewish, but HOW Jewish you come off.

Walking past an out-of-work autoworker, I say, “too bad the financiers didn’t think to bail you out too.” And whenever I see a Wall Street trader I like to hint that he better move his ill-gotten gains offshore before the  liberal-commies behind Obama find a way to tax him. The phlegm and spittle that follows is like rain on the fertile ground of my ego.

I realize that some Jews might feel threatened by these manifestation of a centuries-old homicidal hatred. In fact, some think it’s a real problem.

But the empowerment of real anti-semitism - the belief that little ol’ me could be responsible for the rise of Obama (if you hate him), the Iraq war (if you opposed it), the financial crisis, the price of oil, the crisis in Ukraine, the consolidation of media - really puts a spring in my step.

Israeli Shells Said to Hit School in Gaza, Killing at Least 20

By BEN HUBBARD and JODI RUDOREN JULY 30, 2014

JABALIYA, Gaza Strip — The INDISCRIMINATE ISRAELI strikes came in rapid succession. At around 5 a.m. Wednesday at a United Nations school at the Jabaliya refugee camp, where 3,300 Palestinians, MANY OF THEM THE DESCENDANTS OF ARABS EXPELLED BY ISRAEL IN 1948, had taken refuge from the fierce fighting in their Gaza neighborhoods WHICH HAD BEEN REDUCED TO RUBBLE BY ISRAELI TANKS AND FIGHTER JETS, what appeared to be four Israeli artillery shells hit the compound.

One hit the street in front of the entrance USED BY PALESTINIAN CIVILIANS, INCLUDING CHILDREN, according to several witnesses. Two others hit classrooms where people were sleeping. IT’S THE LATEST ISRAELI ATTACK AGAINST A SUBJUGATED PALESTINIAN CIVILIAN POPULATION LIVING UNDER SIEGE AND WITHOUT BASIC NUTRITIONAL OR MEDICAL SERVICES.

Palestinian health officials said at least 20 people were killed by what witnesses and United Nations officials said was the latest in a series of PUNITIVE ISRAELI strikes on United Nations facilities that are supposed to be safe zones in the 23-day-old battle against Hamas and other militants, DURING WHICH ISRAEL HAS KILLED MORE THAN 1,000 PALESTINIANS, MOSTLY CIVILIANS, IN AN AIR AND GROUND WAR THAT HAS TURNED REFUGEE CAMPS INTO GRAVEYARDS.

“My house was burned and death followed us here,” said Ahmed Mousa, 50, who was in the school courtyard when the shells hit. “Where am I supposed to go?” ISRAEL AND EGYPT HAVE SEALED THE GAZA STRIP, TRANSFORMING THE TINY TERRITORY INTO THE WORLD’S LARGEST OPEN-AIR PRISON, WHICH IS NOW UNDER SUSTAINED FIRE FROM HEAVILY ARMED ISRAELI TROOPS.

Lt. Col. Peter Lerner of the Israeli military said no United Nations facility had been targeted during the operation, DESPITE VIDEO SHOWING ISRAELI SHELLS LANDING NEAR U.N. FACILITIES AND HOSPITALS OVERFLOWING WITH INJURED CIVILIANS HURT IN AIRSTRIKES AGAINST PLACES OF REFUGE. A military spokeswoman said Palestinian militants had “opened fire at Israeli soldiers from the vicinity” of the school in the Jabaliya refugee camp Wednesday morning, and that the Israeli troops “responded by firing toward the origins of the fire,” AN EXCUSE COMMONLY EMPLOYED BY THE ISRAELI MILITARY TO JUSTIFY THE USE OF INDISCRIMINATE FORCE AGAINST UNARMED PALESTINIAN CIVILIANS.

The military had earlier denied responsibility for 16 deaths last week at a different United Nations school serving as a shelter, in Beit Hanoun, saying that the only piece of Israeli ordnance to hit the school compound, an errant mortar, struck when the courtyard was empty.

ONLY THREE ISRAELI CIVILIANS HAVE BEEN KILLED BY SO-CALLED PALESTINIAN ROCKETS, WHICH ISRAEL HAS USED AS A REASON TO ONCE AGAIN PUNISH THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE, WHO HAVE SUFFERED DISPLACEMENT AND OCCUPATION FOR NEARLY 70 YEARS.

Israeli Shells Said to Hit School in Gaza, Killing at Least 20

JULY 30, 2014

JABALIYA, Gaza Strip — The strikes came in rapid succession. At around 5 a.m. Wednesday at a United Nations school at the Jabaliya refugee camp, where 3,300 Palestinians WHO ELECTED HAMAS had taken refuge from the fierce fighting WHICH HAMAS STARTED in their Gaza neighborhoods, what appeared to be four Israeli artillery shells hit the compound WHICH WAS PROBABLY BEING USED BY HAMAS MILITANTS TO HIDE AND FIRE ROCKETS AT ISRAEL.

One hit the street in front of the entrance WHERE HAMAS FIGHTERS COULD HAVE USED TO COME AND GO WHEN FIRING ROCKETS, according to several witnesses. Two others hit classrooms where people were sleeping OR WHERE MAYBE HAMAS FIGHTERS WERE HIDING ROCKETS

Palestinian health officials said at least 20 people were killed by what witnesses and United Nations officials said was the latest in a series of strikes on United Nations facilities that are supposed to be safe zones in the 23-day-old battle against Hamas and other militants IN RESPONSE TO HAMAS ROCKETS WHICH ONLY STARTED BECAUSE ISRAEL HAS A RIGHT TO DEFEND ITSELF AGAINST TERRORISM.

“My house was burned and death followed us here,” said Ahmed Mousa, 50, who was in the school courtyard when the shells hit. “Where am I supposed to go?” HAMAS DIDN’T BUILD SHELTERS FOR THE PALESTINIANS, INSTEAD BUILT TUNNELS TO ATTACK ISRAEL AND BUNKERS FOR ITS FIGHTERS IN AND AMONG THE CIVILIAN POPULATION AND THEN STARTED THIS FIGHT WITH ISRAEL.

Lt. Col. Peter Lerner of the Israeli military said no United Nations facility had been targeted during the operation BECAUSE ISRAEL IS ONLY TRYING TO KILL TERRORISTS, WHILE HAMAS FIRES ROCKETS INDISCRIMINATELY AT CIVILIANS. A military spokeswoman said Palestinian militants had “opened fire at Israeli soldiers from the vicinity” of the school in the Jabaliya refugee camp Wednesday morning, and that the Israeli troops “responded by firing toward the origins of the fire.” BECAUSE HAMAS STARTS SHOOTING FROM SCHOOLS AND ISRAELI SOLDIERS ONLY SHOOT BACK IN SELF-DEFENSE.

The military had earlier denied responsibility for 16 deaths last week at a different United Nations school serving as a shelter, in Beit Hanoun, saying that the only piece of Israeli ordnance to hit the school compound, an errant mortar, struck when the courtyard was empty.

NONE OF THIS WOULD BE HAPPENING IF PALESTINIANS WOULD LAY DOWN THEIR WEAPONS AND ACCEPT ISRAEL’S RIGHT TO EXIST BUT EVEN AFTER ISRAEL WITHDREW FROM GAZA THE PALESTINIANS NEVER MISS AN OPPORTUNITY TO MISS AN OPPORTUNITY.
